Trim stems and remove outer leaves. Cut sprouts in half lengthwise.

Cover halved sprouts with hot tap water in a bowl. Let soak for 15 minutes.

Set air fryer to 375°F.

Drain sprouts well. Toss with oil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.

Place sprouts in a single layer in air fryer basket. Cook for 12 minutes at 375°F, shaking halfway through.

Transfer to a plate and serve hot while still crispy.
