Amish Hamburger Steak Bake (Print)

Juicy beef patties nestled in homemade creamy gravy, baked to perfection in traditional Amish country style.

# Ingredients:

→ Hamburger Steaks

01 - 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
02 - 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
03 - 1 egg, beaten
04 - 1 onion, finely diced
05 - 2 teaspoons salt
06 - 1 teaspoon black pepper

→ Creamy Gravy

07 - 3 tablespoons butter
08 - 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
09 - 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
10 - 1 cup heavy cream
11 - 1 onion, sliced
12 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder

# Directions:

01 - In a large bowl, gently combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper until just incorporated.
02 - Shape the meat mixture into 6-8 oval-shaped patties. Allow them to rest while preparing the gravy base.
03 - Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Brown patties for 3-4 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
04 - Using the same skillet, sauté sliced onions in butter until translucent. Add flour and cook for 2 minutes, then gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth.
05 - Return patties to the skillet, nestling them into the gravy. Cover tightly and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
06 - Remove from oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

# Notes:

01 - Serve with mashed potatoes to soak up the creamy gravy.
