Hearty Amish Hamburger Potato Bake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Patties

01 - 1½ lbs ground beef
02 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder
03 - ½ teaspoon onion powder
04 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ Gravy and Layers

05 - 2 cups milk, divided
06 - ¼ cup all-purpose flour
07 - 4-5 medium russet potatoes, thinly sliced
08 - 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
09 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
02 - Mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Shape into 6 patties.
03 - In a skillet, brown patties on both sides but don't cook through. Set aside.
04 - In same skillet, whisk 1 cup milk with flour until smooth. Gradually add remaining milk, stirring until gravy forms. Season with salt and pepper.
05 - Layer half the potato slices, then half the onion slices in baking dish. Arrange hamburger patties on top. Add remaining potatoes and onions.
06 - Pour gravy over everything. Cover with foil and bake 1 hour. Top with cheese and bake uncovered 15 more minutes.

01 - Slice potatoes very thin for proper cooking
02 - Can add mushrooms for extra flavor
