Amish Onion Fritters Delight (Print)

Golden, crispy Amish onion fritters full of flavor. A perfect snack or side dish.

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups finely chopped onions
02 - 1 cup all-purpose flour
03 - 1 tablespoon sugar
04 - 2 teaspoons baking powder
05 - 1 teaspoon salt
06 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
07 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
08 - 3/4 cup milk
09 - Vegetable oil for frying

# Directions:

01 - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Gradually add the milk, whisking until smooth. Fold in the chopped onions until evenly coated.
02 - In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. To test if the oil is ready, drop a small portion of batter into the oil; it should sizzle and brown slightly.
03 - Using a spoon, scoop small portions of the onion batter and carefully place them into the hot oil. Flatten slightly with the back of the spoon. Fry each side for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
04 - Serve the fritters warm, optionally with sour cream or a dip of your choice.
