Breadsticks Recipe (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 cup warm water (110-115°F).
02 - 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast.
03 - 1 tablespoon sugar.
04 - 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour.
05 - 1 teaspoon salt.
06 - 2 tablespoons olive oil.
07 - 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded.
08 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
09 - 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano.
10 - 2 tablespoons butter, melted.
11 - Marinara sauce for dipping.

# Instructions:

01 - Combine warm water, yeast and sugar in mixing bowl and let stand 5 minutes until mixture becomes frothy.
02 - Add flour, salt and olive oil to yeast mixture, stirring until cohesive dough forms.
03 - Transfer dough to floured surface and knead thoroughly for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
04 - Place kneaded dough in greased bowl and cover with clean cloth for 30-minute rise in warm spot.
05 - Preheat oven to exactly 425°F and prepare baking sheet by lining with parchment paper.
06 - Punch down risen dough and roll into rectangle approximately 1/2 inch thick on floured surface.
07 - Distribute shredded mozzarella evenly across dough surface, pressing gently with rolling pin.
08 - Cut dough into even strips using pizza cutter or sharp knife to create breadsticks.
09 - Arrange breadsticks on prepared baking sheet with 1-inch spacing between each.
10 - Combine melted butter with garlic powder and oregano in small bowl until well mixed.
11 - Brush seasoned butter mixture generously over top of each breadstick.
12 - Bake for exactly 15 minutes until breadsticks become golden brown and cheese bubbles.
13 - Allow breadsticks to cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.
14 - Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping if desired.
15 - Store any leftovers in airtight container up to two days.
