Christmas Crack (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 45 saltine crackers.
02 - 1 cup (2 sticks/227g) unsalted butter.
03 - 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar, packed.
04 - 1 1/2 cups (252g) semi-sweet chocolate chips.

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Arrange the crackers, salted side down, in a single layer on the lined baking sheet. Set aside.
03 - To a small saucepan over medium-high heat, add the butter and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Allow to boil for 3-5 minutes, or until butter is melted and sugar dissolved. Toffee needs to reach 270°F - 290°F and should darken and thicken.
04 - Carefully pour the toffee mixture evenly over the crackers, spreading it to the edges if needed.
05 - Bake for 3-5 minutes, or until the butter and sugar mixture begins to bubble.
06 - Carefully remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Allow to sit for about one minute until they start to soften and melt.
07 - Using an offset spatula, spread the melted chocolate over the crackers.
08 - Transfer to refrigerator for about an hour, or freezer for 30 minutes, until set.
09 - Once set, break into small, uneven pieces by hand.

# Notes:
