French Onion Butter Rice (Print)

Savory long-grain rice with caramelized onions and rich butter, simmered in beef broth and finished with Parmesan cheese.

# Ingredients:

→ Base Ingredients

01 - 1 cup long-grain white rice
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
03 - 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
04 - 2 cups beef broth or chicken broth

→ Seasonings

05 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
07 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ Finishing Touches

08 - 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
09 - Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

# Directions:

01 - In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring frequently, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized, about 15 minutes.
02 - Add the rice to the saucepan with the onions and stir to coat the grains in butter. Cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly toasted.
03 - Pour in the beef broth, garlic powder, and thyme. Stir well, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
04 - Remove from heat and fluff the rice with a fork. Stir in Parmesan cheese if desired. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

# Notes:

01 - For a creamier texture, stir in 2 tablespoons of heavy cream before serving.
02 - Use low-sodium broth to control the salt level.
03 - This rice pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, grilled steak, or as a stand-alone vegetarian dish.
