Chewy Homemade Taffy Candy (Print)

Stretchy, sweet homemade taffy candy made with simple pantry ingredients and customizable with your favorite colors.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 cup granulated sugar
02 - 1/4 cup unsalted butter
03 - 1/2 cup light corn syrup
04 - 1/4 cup water
05 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
06 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - Food coloring (optional)

# Directions:

01 - In a saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
02 - Once dissolved, stop stirring and allow the mixture to boil until it reaches 260°F (127°C) on a candy thermometer.
03 - Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract. If using, add a few drops of food coloring.
04 - Pour the mixture onto a greased marble surface or a heatproof baking sheet. Let it cool for about 5 minutes until it's cool enough to handle.
05 - Once cool enough, pull the taffy by stretching and folding it repeatedly until it becomes shiny and less sticky. This can take about 10-15 minutes.
06 - Grease your hands with butter and cut the taffy into bite sized pieces. Wrap each piece in wax paper.

# Notes:

01 - For best results, pull taffy in a cool, dry environment. The longer you pull, the lighter and chewier the taffy becomes.
