Italian Hot Chocolate Delight (Print)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups whole milk
02 - ½ cup heavy cream
03 - 4 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped (70% cocoa or higher)
04 - 2 tablespoons sugar, adjust to taste
05 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
06 - A pinch of sea salt
07 - Whipped cream, for topping
08 - Cocoa powder or chocolate shavings, for garnish

# Directions:

01 - In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until just simmering, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
02 - Reduce the heat to low and add the finely chopped dark chocolate, stirring continuously until completely melted and smooth.
03 - Add the sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt to the chocolate milk mixture. Stir until well combined and the mixture is thick and creamy.
04 - Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired. Continue to heat on low for another minute without boiling.
05 - Remove from heat and pour the Italian hot chocolate into mugs. Top generously with whipped cream and finish with a dusting of cocoa powder or chocolate shavings for an extra touch of indulgence.
