Macaroni Hamburger Casserole (Print)

Creamy pasta with ground beef, Velveeta, and two more cheeses topped with buttery Ritz crackers for the ultimate comfort food.

# Ingredients:

01 - 450g ground beef

→ Pasta

02 - 2 cups macaroni noodles

→ Dairy

03 - 225g Velveeta cheese
04 - 225g sour cream
05 - 60ml milk
06 - 50g grated Parmesan cheese
07 - 8 slices American cheese

→ Vegetables

08 - 1 onion, finely chopped

→ Pantry Items

09 - 1 can (300g) cheddar cheese soup
10 - ½ teaspoon onion powder
11 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
12 - Salt and pepper to taste
13 - 1 cup crushed Ritz cracker crumbs

# Directions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
02 - Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the macaroni until al dente according to package instructions. Drain well.
03 - Return the drained macaroni to the pot. Add the Velveeta cheese and stir over low heat until completely melted and well combined.
04 - In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is thoroughly browned and the onion has softened, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
05 - Add the sour cream, cheddar cheese soup, onion powder, garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, and milk to the skillet with the beef mixture. Stir until well combined and heated through.
06 - Add the cheesy macaroni to the skillet with the meat mixture and stir to thoroughly combine. Transfer the entire mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
07 - Arrange the American cheese slices over the top of the casserole. Sprinkle evenly with the crushed Ritz cracker crumbs.
08 - Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is bubbling around the edges.
09 - Remove from the oven and let stand for 5 minutes before serving to allow the casserole to set slightly.

# Notes:

01 - This casserole can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking. Add an extra 5-10 minutes to the baking time if cooking from cold.
02 - Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the microwave or oven.
