Ooey Gooey Bars (Print)

Buttery cake mix crust topped with a luscious cream cheese filling, baked until golden and dusted with powdered sugar.

# Ingredients:

→ Crust

01 - 1 box (510g) yellow cake mix
02 - 115g butter, room temperature
03 - 1 large egg

→ Gooey Filling

04 - 225g cream cheese, room temperature
05 - 450g powdered sugar
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - 2 large eggs

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Coat a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
02 - Combine cake mix, butter, and egg with a fork until fully incorporated. Mixture will be dry and crumbly. Press firmly into prepared pan, covering the bottom and slightly up the sides.
03 - Reserve ¼ cup of powdered sugar for topping. Beat cream cheese until smooth, then add eggs and vanilla. Gradually incorporate remaining powdered sugar until mixture is creamy and smooth.
04 - Pour the gooey filling mixture evenly over the crust in the pan.
05 - Bake at 325°F for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and filling is set at edges but still slightly jiggly in center.
06 - Let cool for 10 minutes, then dust with reserved powdered sugar. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.

# Notes:

01 - These bars will be soft in the middle when fully cooled - that's what makes them 'ooey gooey'!
02 - Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
