Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Coat a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.

Combine cake mix, butter, and egg with a fork until fully incorporated. Mixture will be dry and crumbly. Press firmly into prepared pan, covering the bottom and slightly up the sides.

Reserve ¼ cup of powdered sugar for topping. Beat cream cheese until smooth, then add eggs and vanilla. Gradually incorporate remaining powdered sugar until mixture is creamy and smooth.

Pour the gooey filling mixture evenly over the crust in the pan.

Bake at 325°F for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and filling is set at edges but still slightly jiggly in center.

Let cool for 10 minutes, then dust with reserved powdered sugar. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
