Perfect Apple Crisp (Print)

Sweet-tart apples nestled between layers of caramelized oats and cinnamon, creating the perfect balance of soft fruit and crispy topping.

# Ingredients:

→ Apple Mixture

01 - 10 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 10 cups)
02 - 1 cup (200 g) light brown sugar, packed
03 - 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
04 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

→ Crisp Mixture

05 - 2 cups (180 g) quick oats
06 - 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
07 - 2 cups (400 g) light brown sugar, packed
08 - 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
09 - 1 cup (227 g) cold butter, cubed

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or coat with butter.
02 - Place sliced apples in a bowl. Add brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Stir gently until every apple slice is coated with the sugar mixture. Set aside.
03 - In a medium bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add the cubed butter. Using your hands or a fork, mix the butter into the flour mixture until the butter pieces are pea-sized or smaller.
04 - Spread 3 cups of the crisp mixture over the bottom of your prepared pan and press flat. Pour the apple mixture over top and press down with a rubber spatula. Distribute the remaining crisp mixture evenly over the apples.
05 - Bake uncovered for 35-45 minutes. The dish is done when the fruit is bubbling and the top is golden brown.
06 - Serve warm for best flavor and texture.

# Notes:

01 - Baking for 35 minutes at 375°F (190°C) will result in a slightly caramelized and gooey bottom layer with a perfectly crisp top.
02 - For a crispy bottom layer, bake for the full 45 minutes. If the top browns too quickly, tent with foil after 35 minutes.
