In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, egg, bread crumbs, ranch seasoning mix, minced garlic, diced onion, and shredded cheddar. Mix until well combined, being careful not to overmix to avoid tough patties.

Divide the mixture into 6-8 equal portions and shape each into a patty approximately 2cm thick.

Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil cooking surface to prevent sticking. Cook patties for 5-7 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 74°C and they're golden brown on the outside.

Toast burger buns on the grill or skillet for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.

Place cooked patties on toasted buns. Add preferred toppings like lettuce, tomato, pickles, and additional cheese. Add ranch dressing or mayo if desired.
