→ Base ingredients

01 - Nonstick cooking spray
02 - 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into tablespoons
03 - 10 ounces mini marshmallows
04 - 5 1/4 cups crispy rice cereal
05 - 1/2 teaspoon blue gel food coloring
06 - 1/2 teaspoon red gel food coloring
07 - 1/4 cup mixed red, white and blue sprinkles

# Instructions:

01 - Line a 9-by-9-inch baking dish with aluminum foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang on two sides. Spray the foil lightly with cooking spray.
02 - In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 tablespoon butter and about 2 cups mini marshmallows. Microwave until melted and puffed, about 60 seconds. Stir in blue gel food coloring until smooth and streak-free. Stir in 1 3/4 cups crispy rice cereal until evenly coated, then transfer to the prepared baking dish and press into a compact layer. Set aside.
03 - In another microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 tablespoon butter and about 2 cups mini marshmallows. Microwave until melted and puffed, about 60 seconds. Stir until smooth, then stir in 1 3/4 cups crispy rice cereal until evenly coated. Spread over the blue layer, pressing into an even, compact layer.
04 - Repeat the same process with the remaining butter and marshmallows. Microwave until melted and puffed, about 60 seconds. Stir in red gel food coloring until smooth and streak-free. Stir in 1 3/4 cups crispy rice cereal until evenly coated. Spread over the white layer, pressing into an even, compact layer.
05 - While the top layer is still warm, sprinkle evenly with the mixed red, white, and blue sprinkles. Press gently to ensure they adhere. Let sit at room temperature until firm, about 30 minutes.
06 - Cut the treats into 16 squares and serve. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

# Notes:

01 - For easier handling, spray your hands with a little cooking spray when pressing the layers into the pan.
