# Ingredients:

01 - 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
03 - 1 teaspoon salt
04 - 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
05 - 1 cup granulated sugar
06 - 1 cup packed brown sugar
07 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
08 - 1 large egg
09 - 1 cup festive sprinkles or colored sugar
10 - 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
11 - 1 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

# Directions:

01 - In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
02 - In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
03 - Add the vanilla extract and egg to the butter mixture, continuing to mix until well combined.
04 - Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
05 - Fold in the festive sprinkles and optional ingredients like nuts or chocolate chips, if using.
06 - Divide the dough in half. Shape each half into a log about 2 inches in diameter and wrap in plastic wrap.
07 - Chill the wrapped dough in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until firm.
08 - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
09 - Remove the dough from the refrigerator and slice each log into 1/4-inch thick slices using a sharp knife.
10 - Place the slices on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them for spreading.
11 - Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
12 - Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
