Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

Allow the mixture to reach 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer, without stirring, to form a hard crack stage.

Divide the mixture evenly into two bowls and add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl to create two distinct colors.

Carefully dip each apple in one color, then let it set slightly before drizzling or dipping the apple in the second color to create stripes. Use a spoon to control the amount of color on the second dip.

Optionally, sprinkle edible glitter or sprinkles on the apples while the candy coating is still tacky.

Place the apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool and set completely.
