German Red Cabbage (Print)

Traditional German-style braised red cabbage with the perfect balance of sweet and sour flavors. Simple side dish ready in under an hour.

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 tablespoons butter.
02 - 1/2 large red cabbage, sliced.
03 - 2 tablespoons sugar.
04 - 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar.
05 - Kosher salt.
06 - Black pepper.

# Directions:

01 - Melt butter in large pot over medium heat.
02 - Add sliced cabbage and toss with butter.
03 - Sauté for 5 minutes until slightly wilted.
04 - Sprinkle sugar over cabbage and toss.
05 - Add balsamic vinegar and bring to simmer.
06 - Reduce heat, cover and cook for 30-45 minutes.
07 - Stir occasionally until tender but not mushy.
08 - Season with salt and pepper to taste.
