Pour 1 cup of water into a small pot and place it over medium-high heat. Bring to a vigorous boil.

Once the water is boiling, add the peel of half an orange and the cinnamon stick. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Add your black tea bag or 1 tsp loose leaf black tea to the pot and let it steep for 3-5 minutes.

Using a fine mesh strainer, carefully pour the tea mixture into a cup, discarding the orange peel and cinnamon stick.

While the tea is still hot, stir in 1 tsp of brown sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla extract until dissolved.

Pour in 1 cup of milk or your preferred milk alternative. Gently heat on low for another 2-3 minutes.

If desired, strain the tea again to remove any unsettled particles. Garnish with an orange peel twist or orange slice and serve.
